UCLA
Dr. Muzsnai trained at Kern County Hospital in Bakersfield, and was then accepted into the UCLA Family Practice Residency Program. He did his internship and residency at and graduated from UCLA. He is a Board-Certified Family Practitioner. Dr. Muzsnai is the recipient of the Simi Valley Star Physician of the Year Award.
Dr. Muzsnai enjoys traveling, and is the father of three girls. His interests in patient care include preventive medicine. Dr. Muzsnai really emphasizes this care by bringing patients up-to-date on preventative measures and working on healthy lifestyle choices.
UCLA
Dr. Odio completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and continued at UCLA to graduate from the School of Medicine. He completed his residency at the UCLA affiliated Northridge Hospital Family Practice Residency Program.
Dr. Odio was honored as Physician of the Year by Regal Medical Group. He is the Chief of Staff-elect at Simi Valley Hospital, and is the Primary Investigator in several Clinical Trials that are ongoing here in our office. He is a Board-Certified Family Practitioner. While he likes to jog and to swim, he especially enjoys photography. His favorite subjects are his wife and two children. Dr. Odio is fluent in Spanish.
USC and UCSD
Dr. Kushigemachi was raised in Los Angeles and completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Southern California (USC). He received his medical training at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine. His Family Practice internship and residency were completed at the UCLA affiliated Northridge Hospital Family Practice Residency Program.
Dr. “K” (as he is called by those of us not brave enough to try to pronounce his name) is a Board-Certified Family Practitioner. His research in the field of Family Practice has been published in international journals. His special interests lie in nutrition and preventative medicine. Although most of his spare time is spent with his wife and children, he also enjoys bicycling, basketball and gardening. Dr. “K” speaks conversational Spanish and fluent Japanese.
UC Davis
Dr. Nelson and his wife Sue have been residents of Simi Valley for over 19 years. He is a graduate of UCLA and of the UC Davis School of Medicine. He did his Family Practice training at the Northridge Hospital Family Practice Residency Program, part of the UCLA Multi-campus Family Medicine Department.
Dr. Nelson has been active in his Bible Studies group now for over 15 years. He loves carpentry work, which leads to a very long “honey-do” list at home. He has the most fun with his grandchildren and tries not to miss any important activities with them from trips to Disneyland to cheerleader competitions.
UCLA
Dr. Zahirpour is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and of Western University of Health Sciences where she received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree. She is Board-Eligible. She completed her residency program in family medicine at the UCLA affiliated Northridge Hospital, the same residency program from where Drs. Nelson, Odio and Kushigemachi graduated.
Dr. Zahirpour grew up in Los Angeles graduating from Beverly Hills High School. She is bilingual speaking Farsi, and is working on her conversational Spanish. She enjoys hiking, exercising, dancing, and quality time with her family. She also hopes to one day travel to see all of the natural wonders of the world.
Harbour-UCLA
Joyce Altschule-Pisarev received her undergraduate degree from California State University, Northridge (CSUN), and her R.N. from Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. She completed her training as a Nurse Practitioner at the Harbor-UCLA Nurse Practitioner Program, specializing in Women’s Health Care.
Joyce worked as a Women’s Health Care Specialist for ten years through County facilities in Los Angeles and Ventura, before joining Alta California. She lives in Simi Valley with her husband, a retired L.A. City Fire Captain, their two daughters, and assorted animals. She enjoys working so close to home and being part of a growing community. Joyce is our poet-in-residence, able to come up with an appropriate and funny limerick for any office event. Joyce also speaks conversational Spanish.
USC
Leslie Buchanan completed her undergraduate studies at California State University, Northridge (CSUN), and graduated from the University of Southern California’s (USC) Physician’s Assistant Program. She is a certified Physicians Assistant. She joined our practice in 1993; and is well thought of by both patients and staff.
Leslie lives in Moorpark with her husband and two sons, who both attend college. Her oldest son is studying Math at the University of Arizona and her youngest son was a member of the Moorpark High School National Champion Academic Decathlon Team prior to becoming a student at USC where he majors in Business. She enjoys reading, especially historic novels; and is very active in her community. She volunteers regularly at the Conejo Valley Free Clinic. Leslie speaks conversational Spanish.
USC
Smita Mehta graduated from medical school in India, but immigrated to the United States. Here, being a wife and mother, she decided to pursue a career as a Physician’s Assistant rather than the longer training required to be certified as a Physician in the United States. She speaks various Indian languages fluently including Hindi and Gujarati. She also speaks medical Spanish.
She was accepted into the University of Southern California (USC) Physician’s Assistants program where she graduated near the top of the class. She lives in Porter Ranch with her husband. When not in our office, she is busy being a chauffer to their two children.
UCLA
Jun Kim received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing from UCLA. She practiced nursing in the U. S. Air Force as a Captain and received a Commendation Medal. Jun also received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from UCLA with honors in Sigma Theta Tau, and is currently a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She speaks fluent Korean and is working on her Spanish.
Jun lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband and two children. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, she sees patients of all ages, from young children (like her own) to the elderly. In her free time, Jun enjoys painting, traveling, photography and playing the piano.
